  • CALLS FOR COOPERATION

Prominent Nigerian journalist, Henry Ebireri, on Sunday described the Global President of St Peter Claver’s College, Aghalokpe Old Boys Association (SPCCOSA) Mr. Daniel Okeme, as “an intelligent, straight-talking and interesting businessman”

“SPCCOSA is on the right side of history. Daniel Okeme is committed to the welfare of members and the growth of the college”

He also appealed to President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to repair the Eku-Sapele Road.

Ebireri made this appeal on Sunday while congratulating Daniel Okeme and other members of the National Executive Committee of SPCCOSA.

He reminded members of the executive committee that they were voted to serve the association and the college and not their personal or group interest.

“The global president must cherish the mood of the members, place a high premium on accountability and be seen as a transparently impartial father of all”

The association conducted its global elections on Saturday, November 7, 2026.

Ebireri revealed that a lot of money would be required to transform the college.

The political communication expert called on the old boys of SPCC to cooperate fully with the Okeme led executive committee by living up to their responsibilities.

He counseled Okeme and other members of the executive committee to put their priorities right, strive to exploit different sources of revenue, mobilize members for development projects so that they can rehabilitate existing structures and construct new ones.

“You must beautify the college and pursue at all times those things that are in the best interest of the college and the association.

He further advised the executive committee to reach out to top government functionaries in the country for the rehabilitation of dilapidated roads and the building of a modern hospital in Aghalokpe.

“You must pick targets and make students enrollment, teachers’ shortages, infrastructure and facility deficits, security and safety concerns, broader funding and maintenance pressures major priorities’

He urged members of the association to sink their differences and work towards the development of the college and the association.

“You have a role in making the Okeme-led administration a success story. Don’t allow the bitterness of the past to happen again”

Ebireri pledged to continue committing members of the committee to the Almighty God to grant them wisdom, self-control, understanding and objectivity in running the affairs of the association.

The renowned journalist left St Peter Claver’s College, Aghalokpe in 1984.
